A couple of juvenile boys who thought they were the second coming of Paul Bunyan learned they weren’t.

They also learned something else.

They were in hot water, no matter its temperature.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the 17-year-olds took to using an axe to cut down trees on private property.

But they did more than attempt to chop down a tree. They also made a wayward slice that elicited liquid from the land. No, it wasn’t Texas Tea and the fortunes that would gurgle forth with it.

Turned out the lads had cut their way into a waterline.

The call to report the boys' mischievous activity was made July 5, 2:04 p.m., from the 32900 block of Pinnacle Drive.
