One Person Detained After Residential Break-In

Homeowner was away at the hospital when caretaker allegedly broke in and broke items.

A resident of Rancho Santa Margarita called on the Orange County Sheriff's Department Sunday morning after seeing a man break into a neighbor's residence.

The informant indicated the man was possibly high on methamphetamine, according to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The man, an ex-caretaker according to the witness, allegedly broke pots and other items once inside the residence. Upon continued observation, a second person was seen inside the residence.

The home was vacant at the time of the break-in because the homeowner was in the hospital.

One person was detained by sheriff deputies.

The call was made Sunday, 7:13 a.m., from Via Amistosa.

This report was culled from the Orange County Sheriff's website. Not all facts in each report are made public; the outcome of the report may differ from the original blotter item. There should be no assumption of guilt based on this limited information.
