Peeping Tom Pleads Guilty to Exposing Self, Assault

Man captured in Rancho Santa Margarita assaulted woman's husband after he jumped into the suspect's pickup bed.

A 44-year-old man pleaded guilty today to exposing himself to a Mission Viejo woman and assaulting her husband during an ensuing chase and was placed on three years of formal probation.

Mark Andrew Green faces 270 days in jail if he violates the terms of his probation, according to court records.

Green pleaded guilty to indecent exposure and assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to produce great bodily injury, both felonies. A felony charge of making criminal threats and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest were dismissed.

About 10 p.m. last July 15, the woman looked through a window and saw a man fondling himself outside her home in the 23900 block of Juaneño Drive, according to Orange County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock.

Her 29-year-old husband chased Green down the block, then jumped into the bed of the suspect's pickup truck to try to stop his escape, the lieutenant said. The suspect jumped out of the vehicle and assaulted the husband, who suffered minor injuries, Hallock said.

Orange County sheriff's deputies, with help from a department helicopter crew, tracked the truck based on the victim's description. As Green was about to get out of the vehicle in Rancho Santa Margarita, he spotted the deputies and was arrested following a short pursuit, Hallock said.
