Police Blotter: Archstone Apartments Might Consider A Rent Rebate This Month

Assault and a troublesome ex-tenant lead to arrests at the complex. Also, a dog devours a woman's tortoises, a fight breaks out over a scratched vehicle, and someone shoots at the Coto de Caza guard shack.

There were at least three calls last week regarding incidents at the Archstone Apartments in Las Flores, including two that resulted in arrests.

The most serious occurred after a woman called the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Friday evening about a fight she witnessed between four men near one of the community pools at the apartment complex. According to the woman, three men assaulted another man before driving away in a dark green four-door sedan. The victim then sat by a woman next to the pool.

When deputies arrived, they were unable to locate the victim or the caller. The woman called back, saying that she couldn’t meet officers, because she was putting her daughter down for a nap. The victim had apparently made his way back home.

Deputies called for backup when they saw a man—who matched the description of one of the suspects—run to the back of one of the buildings in the complex. Deputies detained and arrested the suspect, a 19-year-old man. The Orange County Fire Authority was on its way to treat the man, who had a minor head wound. Deputies escorted the suspect to Mission Hospital, before sending him to the Central Mens Jail, where he is being held on $50,000 bail.

The call came in around 5 p.m. on Friday from the 700 block of Sable.
