Police Blotter: Baskin-Robbins Customer Gets A Taste of Fear

Also, dogs are on the loose in Las Flores and a drunken woman screams at other Starbucks customers.

A woman enjoying some of Baskin-Robbins' 31 Flavors on Friday got the unexpected taste of fear as well.

She was inside the ice cream eatery when three youths entered the Rancho Santa Margarita business. The patron became scared and left after she witnessed one of the boys pull a switchblade knife out of his back pocket, wipe it off, and put the weapon back into his pocket.

She last saw the three boys sitting at the tables outside the business eating ice cream cones.

The call came in around 9 p.m. on Friday, from Antonio Parkway and Coto de Caza Drive. 

Two dogs on the loose on Antonio Parkway in Las Flores

Two dogs were on the loose in Las Flores on Sunday. The first canine, a pit bull, was seen running down Antonio Parkway early in the morning. Deputies were unable to locate the dog.

The second dog, a black and white husky, was running down Antonio Parkway at noon. Deputies were able to contain the husky at the entrance to Las Flores Elementary school.

The first call came in around 6 a.m. on Sunday, and the second call came in around noon on Sunday. Both calls originated from Antonio Parkway and Oso Parkway. 

Drunken woman screams at Starbucks customers

A customer at Starbucks said an intoxicated woman was lying on the floor, screaming at other customers at the Las Flores store early Sunday evening. Deputies briefly detained the woman outside of the store before driving her home.

The call came in around 7 p.m. on Sunday, from the 28500 block of Oso Parkway.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from June 10 to June 13.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle 10:58 p.m. Monday, on Via Colinas and Via Roble. A caller said he thought someone was doing drugs in a parked black Mustang.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle 8:37 p.m. Monday, 31900 block of Apuesto Way. A man said a group of people were sitting in a white sedan, smoking marijuana.

Burglary Report 11:21 a.m. Monday, 30800 block of Trabuco Canyon Road. A park ranger said someone stole items from the nature center. Deputies arrested a 23-year-old man. 

Disturbance 6:32 p.m. Sunday, 100 block of Via Serena. A man complained about a group of youths who had set up a skateboard ramp on the walkway behind his complex. He also said they were making a lot of noise. Deputies arrived and saw no skate ramp in the area.

Traffic Stop 5:40 p.m. Sunday, on Coto de Caza Drive and Via Terracaleta. Deputies arrested a 24-year-old man, who had a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit, and a warrant for his arrest.

Assault Report 3:08 p.m. Sunday, on Trabuco Canyon Road and Shady Lane. A woman at the general store said another woman threw a rock at her.

Family Dispute 11:58 a.m. Sunday, on Marina. A woman said she could hear her neighbors, a man and woman, yelling, slamming doors and breaking glass. She also said there was an infant in their home and marijuana plants on their patio. Deputies arrived and determined that the argument was verbal only.

Found Property 11:46 a.m. Sunday, 19100 block of El Toro Road. A woman said she found someone’s credit card outside of Cook’s Corner.

Burglary in Progress 2:55 a.m. Sunday, on Fuente. An informant said two people were trying to break into his black Volkswagen.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 2:19 a.m. Sunday, on Roas. A man said his neighbor kept throwing glass bottles onto the street.

Disturbance—Music or Party 1:14 a.m. Sunday, 32000 block of Pavo Real. A man, who was on vacation, said his daughter informed him that his 17-year-old son was having a wild party at his house. The man wanted deputies to make everyone leave his residence.

Disturbance 10:59 p.m. Saturday, on Calle de Felicidad and Calle de las Sonatas. A man saw a group of people fighting on the street.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 10:34 p.m. Saturday, on El Corazon and Calle del Felicidad. A caller said a man was hiding under a dark-colored SUV that was parked on his street.

Burglary in Progress 10:04 p.m. Saturday, 100 block of Calle de los Ninos. A man saw a group of people trying to open the doors of parked cars.

Disturbance 6:10 p.m. Saturday, 31500 block of Via Coyote. A man said his sister’s boyfriend would not leave his house.

Petty Theft Report 6:14 p.m. Saturday, on Crystalaire. A woman said someone had stolen her ring, and that she had found it listed on Craigslist.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 12:47 p.m. Saturday, on Santa Magarita Parkway and Avenida de las Flores. A caller wanted deputies to look for two women who were begging for money from people withdrawing cash out of an ATM.

Disturbance 12:47 p.m. Saturday, on Santa Magarita Parkway and the 241 Toll Road. A caller saw three youths drop items onto cars driving on the toll road.

Petty Theft 11:46 a.m. Saturday, on Plano Trabuco Road and Santa Margarita Parkway. A CVS employee saw a woman steal cosmetics from the store before fleeing on foot into a nearby residential neighborhood.

Disturbance—Music or Party 12:16 a.m. Saturday, on Via Contento. A caller reported hearing loud talking coming from a nearby residence.

Disturbance 10:34 p.m. Friday, on Los Alisos Boulevard and Altisima. A man said a boy had thrown something at his brand new Kia Forte. Deputies found the boy and released him to his parents.

Traffic Stop 5:07 p.m. Friday, on Melinda Road and Via Arribo. Deputies arrested a 36-year-old man.

Disturbance 3:58 p.m. Friday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Avenida de las Fundadores. A caller saw a man and a woman argue in a white Lexus.

Disturbance 1:10 p.m. Friday, on Oso Parkway and Antonio Parkway. An informant said a woman wearing a sport jacket was approaching men and asking them for money.

Disturbance—Music or Party 1:38 a.m. Friday, 22400 block of Alma Aldea. A caller reported hearing a loud TV coming from a building near the Pavilions shopping center.

Disturbance 1:06 a.m. Friday, on Chisholm Trail. An intoxicated woman said she was involved in an argument with her sister-in-law, and she wanted her relative to spend the rest of the night in a hotel.
