Police Blotter: Bicycle Thief Caught By Victim's Friend

Also, a woman's dogs receive death threats from a neighbor, a large argument erupts in front of an RSM residence, and is a dog's bite worse than its owner's bark?

A man said someone had stolen bicycles belonging to him and his friend Sunday afternoon. According to the man, the bikes were parked in front of Target in Rancho Santa Margarita when the thieves made off with them.

A Target security guard claimed that the theft had been recorded on video, but Orange County Sheriff Deputies were unable to find the suspects.

On Monday evening, the man spotted the youth who had apparently stolen his bicycle and began following the kid, who was riding the stolen bike on Santa Margarita Parkway near Wells Fargo and Baskin Robbins.

The man lost sight of the suspect, but his friend pursued him on his bike, eventually catching up to him and another youth. Deputies eventually detained the two teens near El Pollo Loco, and recovered one of the stolen bicycles, which was returned to the informant.

The first call came in around 3 p.m. on Sunday, from the 30600 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. The second call came in around 7 p.m. on Monday, from the 22400 block of Alma Aldea.

Woman receives death threats aimed at dogs

A Rancho Santa Margarita woman said her neighbor left notes in her backyard Sunday evening. According to her, threats to kill her dogs were included in the notes.

The call came in around 7 p.m. on Sunday, from the 100 block of Pasto Rico.

Large argument erupts in front of RSM residence

A woman said 20 people were arguing in the street in front of her Rancho Santa Margarita residence Sunday evening. The people calmed down and went inside a residence across the street before deputies arrived.

The call came in around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, from Pomelo.

Is it stalking or observing?

A man said a dog bit him, but the owner wouldn’t give him any information so he could report it to his insurance company. According to the man, the woman who owned the dog said she would report him for stalking if he followed her. The call came on Sunday, 11:08 a.m., from Paseo Viento and Paseo Alegria.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle 9:52 a.m. Monday, 22300 block of El Paseo. According to an informant, two people were drinking beer in a white BMW that was parked in front of Kohl’s.

Drunken Driving 12:02 a.m. Monday, on Antonio Parkway and Tijeras Creek. A caller saw a driver swerve all over Antonio Parkway while going about 80 mph.

Patrol Check 5:54 p.m. Sunday, 24300 block of Antonio Parkway. A caller said a man walked up to another man, who was sitting inside a white and tan Ford Expedition. The informant thought the man in the SUV was dealing drugs.

Disturbance 10:34 a.m. Sunday, on Tierra Seguro. A girl said her parents hit her 14-year-old sister.

Annoying Phone Call 8:39 a.m. Sunday, on Via Amistosa. A woman said she received text messages from her boyfriend, stating that he wanted to burn her house down.

Disturbance 1:08 a.m. Sunday, on Linaria. An informant heard a man and a woman in an argument, and the woman was screaming for someone to call 911.

Stolen Vehicle 8:33 p.m. Saturday, on Milkwood. A woman said her boyfriend pushed her before taking off in her BMW.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 5:14 p.m. Saturday, on Via Conejo and Via Pajaro. A caller said a few homeless people were camping in a creek bed.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 10:55 a.m. Saturday, on Valeroso. A caller wanted deputies to look for two men carrying box cutters and pliers.

Disturbance 12:09 a.m. Saturday, on Ledgewood Drive. A caller said his father slapped his mother across the face during an argument.

Traffic Accident 11:00 p.m. Friday, on Plano Trabuco Road and Robinson Ranch Road. A man crashed his black SUV into a median.

Disturbance 6:43 p.m. Friday, 200 block of Via Serena. A man was in an argument with his 17-year-old daughter because she returned home intoxicated the previous evening.

Citizen Assist 3:55 p.m. Friday, 22700 block of El Prado. A caller found used bullet casings somewhere on the grounds of the Avila at RSM apartments.
