Police Blotter: Burglars Break Into Neighborhood Vehicles

Also, a man's new home comes with a broken window and missing screens.

A spate of burglaries were reported in Rancho Santa Margarita on Tuesday.

Five different residents of RSM reported to Orange County Sheriff Deputies that someone had broken into their vehicles early Tuesday. The burglaries occurred near Melinda Road and Santa Margarita.

The calls were reported between 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., and came from 100 block of Flora del Sol, Paseo del Sol, Calle Melinda, and two from Via Arribo and Via Encaro.

Window broken, screens missing from man’s new home

A man visited his recently-purchased Rancho Santa Margarita home early Thursday evening and discovered that someone had broken one of its windows and made off with a few of the screens.

The call came in around 6 p.m. on Thursday, from Via Contento.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from November 8 to November 10.

Annoying Phone Call 8:12 p.m. Thursday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and El Paseo. A woman said she was receiving phone calls from an unfamiliar woman.

Assist Outside Agency 6:08 p.m. Thursday, on Foxtail Lane. A woman working for Child Protective Services needed assistance with the possible removal of children from a home that contained a resident who was convicted of spousal abuse.

Found Property 3:10 p.m. Thursday, 29800 block of Avenida de las Banderas. A woman found a purse.

Patrol Check 12:38 p.m. Thursday, on Via Menta. A UPS delivery driver said two men were taking packages that had just been delivered to residents on the street. The men left in a Toyota sedan.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 8:48 a.m. Thursday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Antonio Parkway. A caller saw a man in his sixties drinking alcohol while sitting in his blue vehicle.

Traffic Stop 6:45 a.m. Thursday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Antonio Parkway. Deputies arrested a 36-year-old man, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He is being held without bail at the Intake Release Center.

Shots Heard 8:21 p.m. Wednesday, on Jericho. A caller heard rifle shots coming from Bell Canyon.

Drunk in Public 2:33 p.m. Wednesday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Antonio Parkway. A caller saw a drunken transient passed out on a bench by Carmelitas. The man had been sleeping there all day.

Drunk in Public 11:34 a.m. Wednesday, on Plano Trabuco Road and Las Amigas. An informant wanted deputies to look for a balding man in his forties, who was carrying a can of Monster Energy Drink while staggering across the street against a red light. The man then walked into an apartment complex.

Drunk in Car 10:16 a.m. Wednesday, on Plano Trabuco Road and Santa Margarita Parkway. A caller saw an intoxicated driver near CVS. The man then got out of his car and was walking around the parking lot near Subway with a woman and a dog.

Disturbance 4:59 a.m. Wednesday, on Via Barcelona. A man said his son was pushing his mother around.

Found Property 3:38 p.m. Tuesday, 100 block of Mira Mesa. A man found a purse.

Disturbance 3:32 p.m. Tuesday, 30600 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. Two solicitors were being aggressive with customers outside of Target.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and the 241 toll road. A caller saw a man, driving a tan Toyota truck, try to coerce a woman to enter into his vehicle. The woman kept declining, and eventually the man took off at a high speed.
