Police Blotter: Store Camera Picks Up Sticky Fingers

Also, drunk throws woman into a wall, and kids hurl sand bags at passing vehicles.

A woman with sticky fingers was willing to pay for some of the merchandise she grabbed up at a local department store, but not all of it.

Surveillance cameras allowed security at Kohl's Department store to watch a petty theft go down as a 28-year-old woman shoplifted her way toward a dressing room.

The cameras showed the woman stuffing items into her purse before entering the dressing room; the call was made to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, and a play-by-play was given to the OCSD dispatcher as it was taking place.

After exiting the dressing room, the woman went through the cashier and paid for some of the items, but not all of them. She headed for the exit where a security guard was waiting for her.

He detained the woman until police services arrived.

Sheriff deputies arrested the  unemployed woman, who is being held at the Central Woman’s Jail.

In addition to the merchandise, the woman was allegedly in possession of stolen checks.

The call came in around 7 p.m. on Saturday, from the 22200 block of El Paseo.

Drunk throws woman into wall then flees

A neighbor was concerned about a female in an upstairs apartment after he heard a commotion.

According to an informant who called 9-1-1, he told the dispatcher about an apparent fight involving a man and a woman.The informant went upstairs to check on the female neighbor and was told that the man had thrown her into a wall before leaving the scene in a silver vehicle.

Deputies caught up to the suspect, and called a technician, who tested the man's blood-alcohol levels. The 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to the Intake Release Center, where he was cited and released.

The call came in around 9 p.m. on Sunday, from the 29700 block of Melinda Road.

Kids hurl sand bags at vehicles

An informant wanted deputies to look for a group of kids who were throwing sandbags at vehicles driving on Robinson Ranch Road Friday evening.

The call came in around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, from Robinson Ranch Road and Plano Trabuco Road.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 12:41 p.m. Sunday, 29700 block of Melinda Road. A woman said a man had been inside a woman’s restroom for several hours.

Trespassing 11:45 a.m. Sunday, 31500 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. A Rite Aid employee said a man, who had recently been barred from entering the store, was back inside near the liquor section. He left before deputies arrived.

Disturbance 4:16 a.m. Sunday, on Via Amistosa. A caller said four people were fighting outside his apartment complex.

Disturbance 3:20 a.m. Sunday, 21000 block of Los Alisos Boulevard. A caller heard two men arguing and shouting profanity from the apartment above.

Family Dispute 12:12 a.m. Sunday, on Dewberry. A man said he was holding his intoxicated 17-year-old daughter down because she was fighting him and wanted to run away from home.

Firework Violation 9:47 p.m. Saturday, on Sky Country Circle and Raintree Lane. A caller said someone was setting off fireworks nearby.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 1:03 p.m. Saturday, on San Patricio and Santa Clara. An informant said three kids were inside a grove of trees, damaging them and throwing the branches into the street.

Burglary in Progress 6:37 a.m. Saturday, on Calle Katrina. A house-sitter said a man was inside a residence, and he wasn’t supposed to be there.

Disturbance 3:02 a.m. Saturday, on Los Platillos. An informant could hear four men fighting in a nearby backyard, and could see them rolling around on the grass.

Disturbance 7:04 p.m. Friday, 29700 block of Melinda Road. A caller said a man and a woman were fighting somewhere nearby.

Disturbance 2:40 a.m. Friday, on La Promesa and Antonio Parkway. A man in a black Lexus stopped, tried to start a fight with some men on a corner, and then sped away, according to a caller.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 2:01 a.m. Friday, on Anana. A woman said someone was ringing her doorbell and banging on her front door.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 4:09 p.m. Thursday, on Pomelo and Anana. A caller saw a man hitting golf balls into a creek.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle 1:06 p.m. Thursday, on Avenida Empresa and Aventura. An informant saw a man cut the lock off of a bicycle before placing it in the trunk of a light blue Toyota.
