Police Blotter: Man Calls Real Cops to Report 'Fake' Cops

Also, a frightened neighbor spots a teen on a roof with a gun, and a suspected condo break-in was not what it appeared.

An informant was concerned about a vehicle that was parked on a Rancho Santa Margarita street Thursday evening. The vehicle appeared to be a police cruiser, decked out with sirens and other lights.

Two men got out of the vehicle, and the informant noticed that they were wearing what appeared to be police or security uniforms. However, the caller was worried that "fake" police officers were patrolling his neighborhood.

The call came in around 6 p.m. on Thursday, from Valeroso and Antonio Parkway.

A Rancho Santa Margarita resident wanted Orange County Sheriff deputies to look for a teenager who was on a roof of a nearby residence aiming what appeared to be a gun at a target.

When deputies arrived, they determined that the youth was aiming his BB gun at a bird.

The call came in around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, from Via Latigo.

Suspected condo break-in ends up being a realtor and client

An informant noticed a man and a woman removing a screen from a window on a foreclosed Rancho Santa Margarita condominium around noon on Thursday. Both people then entered the unit, according to the caller.

When the informant confronted them, one of them claimed to be a real estate agent with a buyer, and began cursing at him. The caller didn’t believe them, and wanted a deputy to investigate.

A deputy approached the potential intruders, and determined that they were telling the truth. The agent simply didn’t have another way to enter the condo.

The call came in around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, from Paseo del Sol.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from March 27 to March 29.

Drunk in Public 6:53 p.m. Thursday, 100 block of Aliento. An informant was annoyed by six intoxicated people who were hanging out in garages in the back of an apartment complex.

Disturbance 6:21 p.m. Thursday, 30000 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. A manager from Santa Margarita Ford said a former employee was being verbally aggressive with him after being fired.

Traffic Hazard 5:24 p.m. Thursday, on Rancho Trabuco and Via Trompeta. A caller said two youths on bicycles would not let her pass by in her vehicle.

Disturbance 1:35 a.m. Thursday, 22400 block of Alma Aldea. An informant heard a loud television coming from a neighbor's residence.

Disturbance 12:36 a.m. Thursday, on Roquedo. A caller said four people were arguing loudly near a dark-colored vehicle.

Petty Theft 11:23 p.m. Wednesday, on Calle Estero. A man saw two people going through items inside his unlocked vehicle.

Traffic Stop 10:52 p.m. Wednesday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Alicia Parkway. Deputies arrested a 26-year-old woman, who is being held on $20,000 bail at the Intake Release Center.

Welfare Check 10:24 p.m. Wednesday, on Via Amor. An informant heard a distraught woman cry loudly.

Pedestrian Check 9:11 p.m. Wednesday, 100 block of Via Contento. Deputies arrested a 48-year-old man, who is being held on $30,000 bail at the Central Mens Jail.

Reckless Driving 8:48 p.m. Wednesday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and the 241 Toll Road. A witness saw someone drive erratically in a red Ford Escape.

Grand Theft Report 11:24 a.m. Wednesday, on Charca. A woman said someone had stolen jewelry from her residence.
