Police Blotter: Man Targets 8-Year-Old for 'A Ride Home'

Also, a toddler locks Mom out of the house, and a man is accused getting physical with his wife.

A creepy and potentially dangerous situation developed Monday while a boy walked home from school about 1:45 p.m.

The father of an 8-year-old reported to Orange County Sheriff deputies that a man in a light blue sedan had approached the boy and asked him several times if he wanted a ride home. 

The incident took place at La Ventana and Antonio Parkway.

The report of the suspicious circumstance was made about 6:30 p.m., from Baya.

A young child—a really young child—apparently wanted the run of the house earlier this week.

A woman said her 18-month-old daughter locked her out of her Rancho Santa Margarita home Monday afternoon.

The Orange County Fire Authority arrived, and a deputy was able to gain entrance to the residence by climbing through an upstairs window.

The toddler was no worse for wear and in good condition.

The call came in around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, from Amberwicke.

Man allegedly punches, spits at, and pulls hair of wife

A Rancho Santa Margarita woman said her husband pulled her hair and spit in her face before punching her Sunday evening. Deputies arrived at the scene and arrested a 41-year-old man, who was released after posting bond from the Intake Release Center.

The call came in around 10 p.m. on Sunday, from the 29700 block of Melinda Road.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from May 12 to May 14.

Disturbance 5:05 p.m. Monday, on Avenida de las Flores and Avenida de las Fundadores. An informant said several youths were loitering and partying on his street.

Disturbance 8:08 p.m. Sunday, 22400 block of Alma Aldea. A man said his ex-girlfriend would not leave him alone.

Welfare Check 5:25 p.m. Sunday, on Via Ermitas and Via Respiro. A woman accidentally called 911, when she meant to call a suicide hotline. Deputies contacted her at her home, and she admitted herself into Mission Hospital for treatment for her depression.

Assist Outside Agency 12:05 p.m. Sunday, on Camellia. The Orange County Fire Authority was en route to help a teen who was unconscious, possibly from a drug overdose. The teen was taken to Mission Hospital.

Disturbance 10:24 a.m. Sunday, 100 block of Flora del Sol. A caller heard two women argue and slam doors inside their residence.

Vandalism Report 8:49 a.m. Sunday, on Osoberry Street. A man said someone had vandalized his vehicle.

Assist Outside Agency 3:04 a.m. Sunday, 21100 block of Stone Creek. The Orange County Fire Authority needed assistance with a man who had cut his wrist.

Traffic Accident 2:58 a.m. Sunday, on Paseo Primero. Deputies arrested a 21-year-old man for failing a blood-alcohol test. He was cited and released from the Intake Release Center.
