Police Blotter: Child Abduction Ends With Guns Drawn

Also, a street race ends when one car hits a tree.

A man grabbed a child from a party at the Rancho Santa Margarita Community Center late Saturday evening. The man then ran toward the parking lot with another man in pursuit, according to a call made to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. A security guard was also chasing the suspect, according to the informant.

The security guard informed the caller that the man and the child were in the Kohl’s parking lot, along with several other party-goers. Deputies were able to detain the child-snatching man at gunpoint at the park.

He was taken to Mission Hospital for a head wound.

The call came in around 11 p.m. on Saturday, from the 22200 block of El Paseo.

A witness saw two cars racing on a Rancho Santa Margarita street Sunday afternoon. The race ended, though, when one of the cars hit a tree. The driver was not injured. Deputies arrested a 35-year-old man for having a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit. He was cited and released  from the Intake Release Center.

The call came in around 3 p.m. on Sunday, from the 30400 block of Via Con Dios.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from November 25 to November 28.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 11:40 p.m. Monday, on Calle San Luis Rey. A woman said she was walking her dog when a truck tried to run her over on the sidewalk.

Disturbance—Music or Party 7:49 p.m. Monday, on San Bonifacio. A caller complained about loud Christmas music that was coming from a home across his street.

Citizen Assist 1:32 p.m. Monday, on Flora del Mar. A man said he found a bunch of red pills in a bush.

Warrant Arrest 10:44 a.m. Monday, on San Vincente. Deputies arrested a 20-year-old man who is being held on $15,000 bail at the Central Mens Jail.

Citizen Assist 8:59 a.m. Monday, on Brisa Fresca. A woman said she thought someone had hacked into her computer and was watching her.

Vandalism Report 8:15 a.m. Monday, 21800 block of Avenida de los Fundadores. A woman said someone had sprayed graffiti at Cielo Vista Elementary school.

Disturbance 2:30 a.m. Monday, on Obispo. A caller could hear a man and a woman fighting in a nearby residence. Deputies arrived and arrested a 56-year-old man who was released after posting bond from the Central Mens Jail.

Disturbance 10:31 p.m. Sunday, on Via Garceta. A caller said people were being loud in the community jacuzzi.

Disturbance 9:22 p.m. Sunday, on Bloomfield Lane. A woman said a “psycho” woman had cut her off while driving near her complex.

Disturbance 7:59 p.m. Sunday, on Oso Parkway and Coto de Caza Drive. A man said a guard at the Coto de Caza gate was arguing with him.

Disturbance 6:57 p.m. Sunday, on Plano Trabuco Road and Las Amigas Drive. An informant said kids were hiding in the bushes while throwing rocks at passing cars.

Disturbance 6:27 p.m. Sunday, on Regato. A caller wanted deputies to look for a large group of teen boys who were arguing in the community pool.

Family Dispute 3:09 p.m. Sunday, on Via Terracaleta. A woman said her 15-year-old son was aggressive toward her because she refused to buy him some things he wanted.

Disturbance 11:14 a.m. Sunday, on Calle de Las Sonatas. A caller heard a boy screaming at his mother.

Family Dispute 5:59 a.m. Sunday, 200 block of Via Serena. A woman said her husband was destroying their house.

Family Dispute 1:09 a.m. Sunday, on Summit Court. A woman, who had been drinking earlier that evening, said her husband had punched her. The husband denied it. Deputies arrived and arrested a 48-year-old man, who was released after posting bond from the Central Mens Jail.

Disturbance 10:19 p.m. Saturday, on Celosia. A caller said two men were urinating in a parking garage.

Family Dispute 8:31 p.m. Saturday, 200 block of Sable. A woman said she and her husband had been pushing each other.

Disturbance 1:20 p.m. Saturday, on Antonio Parkway and Avenida de las Flores. A caller said a group of youths were smoking marijuana while listening to loud music on the west side of the lake.

Investigate a Person Down 2:03 p.m. Friday, 21400 block of Birdhollow Drive. A caller said a man was laying on the street. Another informant said the man was yelling.

Grand Theft Report 9:00 a.m. Frjday, on Tierra Plano. A woman said someone had stolen her antique sewing machine.
