Police Blotter: Man Catches Wife Partying With Another Man Who Didn't Want to Leave

Also, someone finds a baby unattended in a stroller near a bus stop, and vandals damage Coto de Caza oak trees.

A man returned to his Coto de Caza home Friday night to find his wife drinking with an unfamiliar man. Both of them were intoxicated, and when the husband asked the other man to leave, he refused and quickly became belligerent. The couple’s two teen-aged children were also inside the residence at the time. 

Deputies arrived and requested additional help, because the man was uncooperative and tried to resist being detained for questioning. Deputies eventually detained and arrested a 32-year-old man, who is being held at the Intake Release Center.

The call came in around 9 p.m. on Thursday, from the 31800 block of Violeta Lane.

Baby found unattended in stroller near bus stop

A caller said that a baby, covered by a blanket, was unattended near a bus stop on Santa Margarita Parkway. The parents were nowhere to be found. Before deputies arrived, a parent returned.

The call came in around 3 p.m. on Monday, from Santa Margarita Parkway and Avenida Empresa.

Vandals damage oak trees in Coto de Caza

The general manager in charge of the Coto de Caza Homeowners’ Association contacted deputies to report that four oak trees had been vandalized near Oakmont and Vista del Verde. Deputies contacted the association’s landscaping company and advised them of the situation.

The call came in around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, from Summerside.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from Feb. 27 to March 4.

Disturbance 12:06 a.m. Friday, on Coto de Caza Drive and Shoal Creek. A woman could hear a male and a female in a verbal argument outside of her house. She called back a few minutes later, saying that there were five unfamiliar people outside, telling her to come outside and fight them. The subjects left in a green Honda before deputies arrived at the scene.

Disturbance 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, 300 block of Sable. A woman said that she was involved in a physical fight with her husband. When she tried to grab his phone, he allegedly hit her over the head. When deputies arrived, both parties said that the fight was verbal only.

Citizen Assist 4:21 p.m. Wednesday, 19200 block of El Toro Road. A man from the office of St. Michael’s Preparatory School reported that someone had recently broken into the school.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, on Antonio Parkway and Oso Parkway. A caller noticed that a child’s desk and a large black bag were on the median, next to the “Welcome to Rancho Santa Margarita” sign. Deputies removed the debris from the roadway.

Disturbance 8:59 a.m. Wednesday, 100 block of Bloomfield Lane. A caller said that his friend had arrived at his residence, kicked in his door, and threw his female roommate to the ground. The man left the residence in a black Chevrolet PT Cruiser. The caller thought that he might be driving to his parents’ house in San Juan Capistrano, so deputies advised the parents to call if he arrived. Deputies were unable to locate the suspect.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 5:12 a.m. Wednesday, on Rocky Mountain. A neighbor wanted deputies to check a vacant house that was located near his home. Apparently, a flood light came on in the backyard, and the neighbor could see a male figure on the back porch.

Disturbance--Music or Party 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, on White Sands. A caller reported hearing loud people partying in a neighboring garage.

Disturbance--Music or Party 1:43 a.m. Wednesday, on Calico Court. A caller said that there was a loud party at a nearby residence.

Assist Outside Agency 4:12 p.m. Monday, 30800 block of Trabuco Canyon Road. A park ranger needed assistance with two drunk campers who were arguing at the Arroyo Campgrounds. The ranger was concerned that the fight would escalate. Eventually, the campers calmed down and no assistance was needed.

Welfare Check 3:20 p.m. Monday, on Pomelo. A woman called the non-emergency line, and the clerk could hear the woman arguing with a male. When asked to describe the nature of the call, the woman refused, but continued to argue with the man. Deputies found the location of the woman from information gathered during previous calls from the residence. They entered the residence, but found no evidence of a fight. The woman called back an hour later, asking deputies if she could file an emergency protective order against the man with whom she was fighting.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 1:54 p.m. Monday, 30600 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. A woman said that a 5-year-old girl was in the bathroom of McDonald’s, saying that she couldn’t find her mother. There was an adult male in the restaurant who said that he was taking care of her, but the woman thought he seemed very suspicious, so she waited in the restroom with the child. Deputies arrived and determined that nothing suspicious was occurring. 

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 11:04 a.m. Monday, on Rancho Trabuco and Colorado. A man said that someone was riding a bicycle on the path near his house and was using a pitchfork to tear up the dirt. The caller was worried that this activity would cause flooding. 

Suspicious Person 8:13 a.m. Monday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Avenida Empresa. A caller said that a female transient was talking to herself.

Disturbance 12:06 a.m. Monday, on Calle de Felicidad. A caller reported that a group of juveniles were being loud at a nearby park.
