A man opened the door of his Rancho Santa Margarita residence Wednesday evening and what he saw astonished him. A man was laying down on his couch.

On his couch.

Apparently realizing the gig was up, and so was his nap, the comfortable couch surfer immediately left and walked toward Avenida de los Banderas. 

Orange County Sheriff Deputies were unable to locate the suspect, who was described as being 25 years old, with a shaved head and tattoos on his right arm. He was clad in jeans and a tan shirt—thank goodness.

The call came in Wedneday, around 6 p.m., from Paseo Simpatico.

Roommate punches walls, tries to fight informant

A Rancho Santa Margarita man was involved in a brawl with his roommate Friday night, according to a call made to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the man, his roommate threatened to punch him after smashing the apartment’s walls several times.

The call came in around 7 p.m. on Friday, from the 22400 block of Alma Aldea.

Firework Violation 9:45 p.m. Saturday, on Pomelo. A caller said people were lighting off fireworks nearby.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 4:48 p.m. Saturday, on Via Lampara. An informant saw two men smoking marijuana inside a blue Kia Sorrento.

Citizen Assist 2:09 p.m. Saturday, on Arcilla. A woman said someone had sent her a lewd text message.

Disturbance 9:47 a.m. Saturday, 31400 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. A woman said a man tried to fight her boyfriend at Carl’s Jr.

Burglary Report 2:13 p.m. Friday, 30400 block of Avenida de las Flores. A man said a bag had been stolen from his vehicle.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 12:07 a.m. Friday, 21000 block of Headland Drive. An informant saw three people lighting something in a vacant lot in Robinson Ranch. The caller was unsure if they wanted to light a fire or were just smoking marijuana.

Disturbance 8:18 p.m. Thursday, on Via Cuidado. A caller said a group of people were loitering and drinking beer near his residence.

Warrant Arrest 4:24 p.m. Thursday, on Via Amistosa. Deputies arrested a 25-year-old man, who is being held without bail at the Central Men’s Jail.

Family Dispute 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, on Via Meseta. A 16-year-old girl said her mother locked the girl out of their shared bedroom and bathroom, then opened the door and shoved it into her face. The mother also allegedly punched the girl on her arms four times, and once on the face, but there were no visible injuries. Deputies transported the teen to a youth shelter.

Grand Theft Report 6:54 p.m. Wednesday, on Azalea. A woman said someone had taken $2,700 worth of jewelry from her bedside jewelry box.

Medical Aid 12:56 p.m. Wednesday, on Lobella. A woman said her husband texted her, saying he wanted to commit suicide. The man was taken to Mission Hospital.

Disturbance 12:16 a.m. Wednesday, 29800 block of Aventura. A man said another man broke a window, and took his daughter out of his home. The informant admitted that the daughter belonged to the suspect.

Found Bicycle 1:39 p.m. Tuesday, on Calle Horcha. A caller found an old bike that had been left leaning against a community mailbox for over a week.

Stolen Vehicle 12:34 p.m. Tuesday, 200 block of Montana del Lago Drive. A woman reported her Porshe as stolen.
