Police Blotter: Man Opens Door, Assaulted With Baseball Bat

Also, a woman turns down an offer for a foot massage from an inebriated teen.

Police are searching for a man who assaulted a Rancho Santa Margarita man with a baseball bat after opening a door.

The attack took place on Wednesday, about 2:20 p.m., after an RSM resident answered a knock at his door. The victim suffered facial injuries from the attack, and told Orange County Sheriff deputies that the assailant was looking for someone named Jonathon.

When the victim told the man that he didn't know anyone named Jonathon, the man took a baseball bat and hit him in the face with it. Deputies searched the surrounding area, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The call came in around 2:22 p.m. on Wednesday, from Via Amitstosa.

A woman said an intoxicated teen wearing a blue Tesoro sweatshirt knocked on the front door of her Coto de Caza home early Wednesday afternoon and asked the woman if he could massage her feet. When she didn’t express any interest in the invitation, he began walking toward her backyard before leaving.

The call came in around 12:48 p.m. on Wednesday, from Hawthorne Lane.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from February 14 to February 16.

Traffic Stop 11:02 p.m. Thursday, on El Prado and Antonio Parkway. Deputies arrested a 25-year-old woman, who was released after posting bond from the Intake Release Center.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 9:08 p.m. Thursday, 32000 block of Dove Canyon Drive. A man at the Dove Canyon front gate said that someone had jumped the fence into the community.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 7:53 p.m. Thursday, on Las Cruces. A woman said her 13-year-old daughter had befriended a man in his 20s or 30s. The man kept calling the daughter and telling her inappropriate things.

Disturbance 6:17 p.m. Thursday, 31800 block of Joshua Drive. A woman and her daughter were involved in a heated argument, which led to the mother punching a plate glass window. She suffered superficial injuries to her hand and arm.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle 2:46 p.m. Thursday, on Via Lampara. A caller wanted deputies to look for three men who were smoking marijuana in a Kia Sorrento.

Traffic Stop 9:35 a.m. Thursday, on El Corazon and Paseo Vecino. Deputies arrested a 20-year-old man, who was released after posting bond from the Intake Release Center.

Disturbance 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, on Paseo Viento. A man said a debt collection agency was threatening him with jail time unless he paid an outstanding debt.

Assist Outside Agency 1:37 p.m. Wednesday, on Via Amistosa. The Orange County Fire Authority needed assistance with a three-year-old boy, who had suffered lacerations to one of his index fingers after using a knife to cut a hot dog.

Burglary in Progress 1:05 p.m. Wednesday, on River Rock Drive. A woman said when she came home, she noticed that one of her windows had been smashed. She then saw a teen-aged boy run out of her side gate, leaving in a black Infiniti. Deputies were unable to locate the youth.

Disturbance 9:18 a.m. Wednesday, on Via Prado. A man said his mother’s ex-boyfriend kept banging on their window and refused to leave.

Vandalism Report 8:23 a.m. Wednesday, on Via Amistosa. A woman said someone had vandalized her Dodge Charger.

Vandalism Report 9:43 p.m. Tuesday, on Creek View Road. A woman said someone had shot a pellet through one of her windows.

Pedestrian Check 8:31 p.m. Tuesday, on Vista del Lago. Deputies arrested a 19-year-old man, who was released from the Central Mens Jail by a court order.

Disturbance 4:47 p.m. Tuesday, 31100 block of Via Colinas. A woman said her 25-year-old daughter was under the influence of Oxycontin, which she obtained illegally. The woman said she had a stash of the pills in her room. Deputies arrested the 25-year-old woman, who was cited and released from the Intake Release Center.
