Police Blotter: Man with Binoculars Seen at Wagon Wheel Elementary

Also, a woman complains that her neighbor won't stop offering her beer, and a big rig is on fire on Antonio Parkway.

A woman wanted to file a police report about a gray-haired man she saw walking around Wagon Wheel Elementary in Trabuco Canyon on Thursday morning. She said he was carrying binoculars and might have been trying to watch schoolchildren. When she approached him, he left in a white Nissan Murano, driving toward the 241 freeway. 

The woman called back 20 minutes later, saying she saw the man drive by the school again before driving toward Ortega Highway.

The call came in around 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, from the 30900 block of Bridle Path.

Woman says neighbor won’t stop offering her beer

A woman said her intoxicated neighbor keeps coming onto her property, trying to give her beer. When she refuses, he goes home before returning a few minutes later, attempting to get her to drink with him.

The call came in around 4 p.m. on Monday, from Abrigo.

Big rig on fire on Antonio Parkway

The Orange County Fire Authority needed assistance with a fire that was raging inside a semitruck on Antonio Parkway on Monday afternoon. It was unsure if the driver was still inside the vehicle. When deputies arrived, the OCFA had put out the fire, and the driver was unharmed.

The call came in around 3:45 p.m. on Monday, from Antonio Parkway and Avenida de las Fundadores.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from March 14 to March 17.

Narcotics Violation 1:03 p.m. Thursday, on Tesoro Creek Road. A narcotics violation was reported at Tesoro High School.

Suspicious Vehicle 4:03 a.m. Thursday, on Pamela Way. A man said that a truck stopped in front of his house and that a few people got out of the vehicle holding flashlights, apparently looking for something on the sidewalk. 

Disturbance 11:06 p.m. Wednesday, 22700 block of El Prado. A caller said a man and a woman were involved in a physical fight. Deputies arrived and arrested a 36-year-old man, who is being held on $100,000 bail at the Central Men's Jail.

Trespassing 8:12 p.m. Wednesday, 100 block of Seacountry Lane. A landlord said two of her tenants were refusing to vacate a residence, even though they had been served with a notice to vacate. The tenant showed deputies a letter from JP Morgan Chase, stating he had until June 22 to leave the premises.

Traffic Accident 7:24 p.m. Wednesday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Alicia Parkway. A caller said a woman driving a silver Nissan Murano hit a tree that was on the median.

Traffic Hazard 6:08 p.m. Wednesday, on Via Garceta and Via Cerceta. A caller wanted a skateboard ramp that he often saw in the middle of the street moved. Deputies advised the owners of the ramp of the complaint but noted that they weren’t violating any laws.

Keep the Peace 5:29 p.m. Wednesday, on Abrigo. A woman said there was a man yelling at her from outside of her patio, telling her and her family to leave the country because he thought that they were illegal immigrants. Deputies briefly detained the man before releasing him. 

Citizen Assist 3:31 p.m. Wednesday, 900 block of Sable. A man reported seeing a person videotaping swimmers at a community pool.

Keep the Peace 11:02 p.m. Tuesday, on Shea Ridge. A landlord said she needed assistance with a hostile tenant who had been served with a notice to vacate the residence. The tenant was refusing to leave the property.

Grand Theft Report 7:11 p.m. Tuesday, 600 block of Sable. A woman said someone had stolen her bicycle.

Welfare Check 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Antonio Parkway. A caller said she saw a woman begging for money outside of Ralphs with her 12-year-old daughter. The caller said the girl appeared to be crying.

Citizen Assist 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, 23300 block of Arroyo Vista. A caller wanted a deputy to tell the driver of an ice-cream truck that was parked in the red zone outside of Arroyo Vista Elementary to move, because school would be out soon. She was afraid kids would mob the truck, causing traffic to back up.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 2:24 p.m. Tuesday, on Las Mesitas and Arroyo Vista. A caller said two men who appeared to be in their 30s, were giving beer to two bikini-clad girls. A few minutes later, another caller complained that the same two men were sitting in their Honda Civic, smoking marijuana and blasting the car’s stereo.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 9:25 p.m. Monday, on Tumbleweed Street and Sundown Road. A caller said that a group of unfamiliar youths were inside a house on the street but that the owners of the house were out of town.

Petty Theft 6:27 p.m. Monday, 30600 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. A Target employee reported that a woman had left the store with merchandise she hadn't paid for. Deputies arrested and released a 39-year-old woman. 

Weapons Violation 3:12 p.m. Monday, 21900 block of Alma Aldea. The principal of RSM Intermediate reported that a seventh-grade student was found to be in possession of a hunting knife.

Vandalism Report 8:34 a.m. Monday, 23300 block of Arroyo Vista. A man working at Arroyo Vista Elementary School filed a vandalism report.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 3:10 a.m. Monday, 300 block of Pasto Rico. A caller said a loud booming noise was coming from his back door, front door and garage door.

Traffic Stop 1:59 a.m. Monday, on La Promesa and Antonio Parkway. Deputies arrested a 26-year-old man.
