Police Blotter: Photo Shoot or Suspicious Activity?

Also, a man waves a handgun at a woman after cutting her off, and an angry Ulta customer throws a fit—and several bottles of nail polish.

An informant was convinced that something was amiss near a bridge in Rancho Santa Margarita Friday evening, because he saw a group of 12 youths, clad in black from head-to-toe, standing in traffic as vehicles drove by. The boys darted back onto the side of the road when cars came too close.

The teens then got ready to throw what appeared to be a suspicious-looking black bag over the side of the bridge, before darting back into traffic again.
Deputies arrived on the scene, and found out that the suspicious activity was actually a photo shoot for a band called Omis.

The call came in around 2:15 p.m. on Friday, from the 29800 block of Aventura.

Man waves gun at woman

A general broadcast alerted Orange County Sheriff Deputies about a man who was seen driving his black Ford F-150 on the 241 Toll Road Sunday afternoon.

The man allegedly brandished a handgun at another driver after cutting her off in traffic.

Deputies were unable to find the man, who was described as wearing a black baseball cap and had quite a bit of facial hair.

The call came in around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, from Santa Margarita Parkway and Interchange Plaza.

Angry customer throws a fit

An Ulta Beauty employee said an aggressive customer threw nail polish bottles all over the Rancho Santa Margarita store Friday afternoon. The woman refused to leave when asked. When deputies arrived, they determined that it was a civil matter.

The call came in around 2:15 p.m. on Friday, from the 29800 block of Aventura.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from June 1 to June 4.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle 11:18 p.m. Monday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and Avenida de Las Flores. A caller wanted deputies to look for a green truck, occupied by people who were loading lumber into it in front of Lowe's. The informant thought it was suspicious because Lowe's was closed. Deputies arrested a 43-year-old woman, because she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She is being held on $20,000 bail at the Central Women’s Jail.

Disturbance 6:49 p.m. Monday, on Vista Sierra. A woman wanted her 18-year-old son arrested because he was disrespecting her.

Petty Theft 4:24 p.m. Monday, 31500 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. Two women were caught shoplifting at Rite Aid. Deputies arrived and arrested a 19-year-old woman, who was released on her own recognizance from the Intake Release Center.

Disturbance 2:46 p.m. Monday, on Sepulveda. A caller said a 20-year-old man was out of control, throwing items around his residence. The man was withdrawing from methadone, according to the caller. Deputies arrived and arrested the man, who was cited and released from the Intake Release Center.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 12:09 p.m. Monday, on Via Latigo. A woman said people were running around in her attic.

Warrant Arrest 11:53 a.m. Monday, on Calle del Arena. Deputies arrested a 22-year-old man, who is being held on $50,000 bail at the Musick Facility.

Traffic Stop 9:34 a.m. Monday, on Coto de Caza Drive and Antonio Parkway. Deputies arrested a 49-year-old man, who is being held on $15,500 bail at the Musick Facility.

Traffic Stop 8:29 a.m. Monday, on Via Melina and Via Pamplona. Deputies arrested a 46-year-old man, who was released after posting bail at the Intake Release Center.

Petty Theft 2:10 a.m. Monday, 31500 block of Santa Margarita Parkway. A Rite Aid employee said two men had stolen alcohol and chips from the store.

Assist Outside Agency 8:14 p.m. Sunday, on the 241 Toll Road and Los Alisos Boulevard. Animal Control needed assistance with two coyotes that were stuck on a center median.

Disturbance 7:22 p.m. Sunday, 21800 block of Avenida de los Fundadores. An informant saw a group of people fighting in front of Cielo Vista Elementary school. One of the participants appeared to be injured. Deputies arrived and arrested a 21-year-old man, who is being held on $20,000 bail at the Central Mens Jail.

Assist Outside Agency 4:27 p.m. Sunday, 30400 block of Avenida de las Flores. The Secret Service needed assistance with someone who was trying to use counterfeit $100 bills at Lowe’s.

Disturbance 12:00 a.m. Sunday, 22400 block of Alma Aldea. A man said his wife was slapping him around in an argument. Deputies determined that the argument was verbal only.

Disturbance 9:16 p.m. Saturday, 23400 block of Avenida la Caza. An informant said youths were throwing water balloons at passing vehicles.

Disturbance 4:44 a.m. Saturday, 100 block of Via Contento. A caller heard a woman screaming in a nearby residence.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 8:04 p.m. Friday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and the 241 toll road. Someone called 9-1-1 and hung up. An informant saw three teen-agers carrying what appeared to be long rifles while walking on the bike path behind the Ford dealership. The rifles ended up being Airsoft guns.

9-1-1 Hangup 10:34 a.m. Friday, 23100 block of Maravilla Lane. Someone called 9-1-1 and hung up. Deputies were able to locate the address and, upon arrival, noticed that a man had suffered from injuries resulting from a physical fight with his 43-year-old wife. Deputies arrested her and she was released after posting bond from the Intake Release Center.
