Police Blotter: Woman Found Lying in Pool of Blood

Also, a man tears up clothing before starting a fire.

A Rancho Santa Margarita woman came home Monday evening to find her friend lying in a pool of blood, with a gun next to her. The woman said she had spoken to her friend about an hour earlier, and that she didn’t sound upset.

Deputies confirmed that the woman had indeed suffered from a gunshot wound, and the Orange County Fire Authority arrived to treat her and transport her to a hospital.

The call came in around 8 p.m. on Monday, from Via Carino.

An informant saw a man tear up some of his clothes, putting them in a trash can before starting a small fire in the parking lot near a community pool in Las Flores Sunday night. The man left, and the fire had burned out before deputies arrived.

The call came in around 10 p.m. on Thursday, on Via Serena.

The following is a summary report of calls from Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Trabuco Canyon and Las Flores to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from June 23 to June 25.

Burglary in Progress 9:39 p.m. Monday, on Paseo Dalia. A man thought someone had broken into his residence, because his front door was wide open and the shower was on in his master bathroom. Deputies were unable to find any suspects.

Disturbance 9:12 p.m. Monday, on Pecos. An informant said there was a large group of youths partying and drinking on his street.

Disturbance 8:46 p.m. Monday, on Rue Cezanne. A woman said her sister’s ex-husband came to her home and shoved her sister. The man refused to leave when asked. Deputies arrived and arrested a 51-year-old man, who is being held on $10,000 bail at the Central Mens Jail.

Disturbance 10:38 a.m. Monday, 19100 block of El Toro Road. A man was concerned about a Wal-Mart semi truck that was parked in a “weird place” near Cook's Corner. Several men surrounded the truck.

Traffic Hazard 5:01 a.m. Monday, on Antonio Parkway and Tijeras Creek. A caller saw an unoccupied Toyota Prius on the side of the road, with two flat tires and a smashed windshield.

Annoying Phone Call 8:14 p.m. Sunday, on Hawthorne Lane. A woman said her ex-boyfriend had called her more than 70 times before trying to break into her residence.

Welfare Check 5:53 p.m. Sunday, on Antonio Parkway and the 241 Toll Road. An informant wanted deputies to check on what appeared to be a 9-year-old boy attempting to hitchhike.

Drunk in Public 5:04 p.m. Sunday, on Rancho Trabuco and Tierra Montanosa. A caller said a group of people were playing beer pong in the community pool.

Assist Outside Agency 12:47 p.m. Sunday, on Santa Margarita Parkway and the 241 Toll Road. Animal control needed assistance with a dog that was locked inside a black vehicle in the Lowe's parking lot.

Welfare Check 8:29 a.m. Sunday, on Avenida de las Flores and Buena Suerte. A caller saw a disoriented woman, clad in scrubs, leaving the Church of Latter Day Saints. Deputies gave the woman a ride home.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 3:23 a.m. Sunday, on Sycamore Canyon Drive and Sawmill. An informant saw a group of youths throwing eggs at vehicles as they passed by.

Drunken Driving 12:39 a.m. Sunday, on Plano Trabuco Road and Santa Margarita Parkway. A woman saw a driver of a black Escalade talking to herself. The driver appeared to be intoxicated.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 12:26 a.m. Sunday, on Rana. A woman saw a flashing light on the hills behind her home.

Suspicious Person/Circumstances 10:21 p.m. Saturday, on Via Serena. A man smelled marijuana being smoked somewhere nearby, and wanted deputies to do something about it.

Disturbance 7:49 p.m. Saturday, on Via Cresta. A woman was annoyed by her neighbor's smoking habit, and complained that the neighbor had been accusing her of child molestation.
