Red Flag Warning Continues

Weather conditions make Orange County ripe for a major fire.

Rancho Santa Margarita and the rest of Orange County are under a red flag warning because of fire danger.

The National Weather Service said strong, gusty winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions.”

The danger is compounded, the service reports, because vegetation is extra-dry as a result of little rain this season.

The warning is expected to last until at least Wednesday, 6 p.m.

Winds are coming from the east in the 20-30 mph range with occasional gusts up to 60 mph, the National Weather Service reports.

Humidity will drop to 5-10 percent with “poor recovery” overnight, the service says. For more information on being prepared for wildfires visit: ReadySetGoOC.org.

Citizens are reminded to be careful with open flames, and parents are encouraged to warn their children about the dangers of fireworks—and that damage caused by such a fire could come back to the parents.
