Red Flag Warning In Effect Until Saturday Night
Residents should be on the alert to their own activity, but also nefarious activity of others.
A red flag warning in the local mountains has been issued by the National Weather Service in San Diego.
The warning was issued for Orange County Coastal and the Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest. It is in effect until Saturday, 6 p.m.
Strong gusty winds and low relative humidity are the primary factors for the warning, which indicates critical fire weather conditions. Residents should be cautious when doing anything that creates sparks, but should also be on the lookout for malicious behavior as well.
The most critical conditions will occur in the Santa Ana Mountains and foothills, and in the Chino Hills area, the weather service reported.
East to northeast winds with of 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph will continue, with the strongest winds through and below canyons and passes. Humidity will be in the 10-20 percent range in inland Orange County and the Santa Ana Mountains, and 8-13 percent on Tuesday. Nighttime recovery will be poor.
Lighter winds will occur Saturday night and Sunday, and humidity will start to recover on Sunday near the coach, but the dry conditions will continue in the mountains and foothills.
