Orange County SWAT deputies today entered a Mission Viejo home where a shot rang out around four hours earlier and found a man who had taken his own life, authorities said.

The suicide occurred in a home in the 24600 block of Mosquero Lane, said Lt. Jeff Hallock. The initial call of a shot fired came in around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

A woman fled the home and called the sheriff's department to report that her spouse was despondent and that she had heard a shot inside, Hallock said.

SWAT deputies arrived at the scene, neighbors in surrounding homes were evacuated, and attempts were made to contact the man, a videographer reported from the scene.

SWAT deputies entered the home around 3:30 a.m. and found the body, Hallock said.

Things aren't great for everyone, Brain. I'm a CA Real Estate Broker -- I see people everyday that are still completely underwater financially. Not to say that mental illness doesn't contribute but I know too many people struggling to make it in The OC. Many heads of households can't afford to be sick for a week without losing everything. Financial stresses plus just everyday life, plus a salt and pepper mix of depression/anxiety does not a good combination make... anyway. No sense in arguing why. My point was to have compassion for this man's suffering. Still wishing the family peace and healing.

Of course not everything is good for everyone. There's always been a segment of the population on the financial edge. "Blessings" or prayers has never been known to accomplish anything. [BTW, Jobless claims at a seven year low, announced this morning.]
