Three Break-Ins in One Day in One RSM Neighborhood

A neighborhood across the street from Robinson Ranch is targeted.

By Martin Henderson

A rash of break-ins plagued the neighborhood near Trabuco Mesa Elementary School heading into last weekend.

According to the blotter of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, there were three calls, within 95 minutes of each other, by residents reporting their homes had been broken into by someone. All reported thefts, according to Sgt. Frank Nin of Rancho Santa Margarita police services.

Entry appeared to be gained through the back door, as sliders were broken or glass doors smashed.

Two of the incidences took place on Via Lantana and the third on Via Felicia.

The same neighborhood was the site of a handful of burglaries early in the year. The break-ins appeared to stop there, but moved to Robinson Ranch—located across Plano Trabuco from the neighborhood.

The first and second calls came in within seconds of each other.

The first incident, on Via Felicia, involved the reporting party noticing the sliding glass door had been smashed. The call came at 4:37 p.m.

About a half-minute later, another resident called to report the back door slider had been broken. The report was that there were multiple victims on Via Lantana. The reporting party indicated he had been gone from the residence since 7:45 a.m.

The third incident, also on Felicia, involved the resident seeking a walk-through by deputies to clear the residence.

This report was culled from the Orange County Sheriff's website. Not all facts in each report are made public; the outcome of the report and its actual facts may differ from the original blotter item. There should be no assumption of guilt based on this limited information.
