Applications Being Accepted for Thompson's Vacant City Council Position

City has formally released the application. Residents are encouraged to apply for the seat vacated by Gary Thompson.

The city of Rancho Santa Margarita is now accepting applications for the seat vacated by Gary Thompson on March 3, 2010. The position will serve through 2012. The new council person will be appointed by the city council.

In order to serve for what is being termed an interim position, candidates must be U.S. citizens, a registered voter and resident in the city of RSM, at least 18 years of age and able to take the required oath of office.

All applications and supplemental information must be filed no later than noon, March 22. Late applications will not be accepted.

Applications are available online at the City of RSM website, and at the city clerk's office at City Hall, 22112 El Paseo, Rancho Santa Margarita, during normal business hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Applications will be submitted to the city council for review and consideration during the regularly scheduled city council meeting on March 23.

Council members are entitled to a stipend of $463.50 per month.

Regular council meetings are held the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month starting at 7 p.m. Special and/or Adjourned Regular Council Meetings and the City Council Study Sessions may be called as needed.
