Issa to CNN: Would Vote to Re-Open Government

Rep for Coto de Caza and Ladera Ranch told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that he would vote for a "clean" continuing resolution to fund the federal government.

Rep. Darrell Issa said on CNN Tuesday that he would vote to re-open the federal government.

The Washington blog The Hill covered Issa's appearance on CNN.

“I’ll vote for a clean CR," the Republican from Vista told CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

“Republicans in the House have always been for a clean CR increase if it meant we began the serious negotiations on the kinds of reforms that need to happen…entitlements as a shortcut for it. That's what the deal is about right now.”

A "clean CR" is short for a "clean continuing resolution" to fund government without other changes attached.

Issa had previously voted for measures to fund the government only if the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare as it's known, was defunded or delayed.

The federal government has been closed since Oct. 1 and Congress is battling over whether to raise the debt ceiling and avoid a first-ever default on Thursday.

Issa's 44th District includes Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, Del Mar, Camp Pendleton, San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Coto de Caza and Ladera Ranch.
