Rancho Santa Margarita City Council member Jesse Petrilla has returned from nearly four months of training at the U.S. Army's Armor Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Knox, KY.
Petrilla, a tank platoon leader with the California Army National Guard, returned home Monday.
He was a member of the last class to train at Fort Knox, which had housed the school for 71 years; it is being moved to Fort Benning, GA.
"I am grateful to have benefitted from some of the best training in the world," Petrilla said in a press release, "I am now looking forward to returning to my duties as a councilman for our wonderful city. It's good to be back."
Petrilla's training included maneuver tactics for both Armor and Cavalry, troop and company level strategy, orders development, and logistical planning among other skills needed to lead a platoon through combat operations.
Petrilla, who particpated in only two city council meetings while he was gone—once while on leave, the other via teleconference—will be on hand Wednesday, 7 p.m., for the next city council meeting.
