Coto de Caza Development: New Homes, Habitat Reserve

Seven homes and 113 acres of open space are planned for the last large piece of land left in the exclusive community.

After several unsuccessful attempts to develop 127 acres in Coto de Caza, plans are moving forward to build new homes on the last large tract of available land in the gated community, the Orange County Register reported.

Khalda Development of Mission Viejo plans on building only seven houses that will take up 14 acres, with the remaining 113 acres becoming an open-space habitat reserve.

Coto Estates will be near Starr Ranch Sanctuary and be accessible by a new road that will be built along Van Gough Way, the paper reported. The county Board of Supervisors approved the rezoning from recreational to residential in December 2011.
