Forbes Magazine has confirmed what many people already knew – it’s expensive to live on in Orange County.

But is it overpriced? Forbes Magazine ranked Orange County – the periodical used the phrase “Santa Ana” but we know that can’t be right – ninth most overpriced area in the country.

Forbes looked at housing affordability, median income, cost of living costs for food, utilities, gas, transportation, medical expenses and other daily expenses when comparing areas.

Honolulu and New York City topped the list with Boston coming in third.

Lol buddy! I also forgot the legion of 6 foot Goliath 4th graders in this county, who's 'OC' parents have held them back 2-3 years so they can be on the varsity baseball team! Hey kid! Go shave your beard for your 5th grade teacher already!!

Of course it is expensive to live in Orange county. And, it is not just the rents and mortgages. Utilities are higher. Water, power, gas for cars. We have mild weather. Millions of Americans endure snow, ice, storms, acrosss the US, and of course the cost of living is less here in a mild climate anywhere near the coast. Seems like everyone is suffering the financial blues on some level. The rents are outrageously high. A mortgage is usually less. Not in Newport as that is the Beverly Hills of Orange County. We need better representation in this state. Use your power at the polls. Karen wouldn't it be better to buy a small place in OC than to throw high rents away in Newport Beach? I say that, as I made that choice once long ago. Just a thought. Look outside, blue sky, and sunshine.

You know what would lower home prices don't you? Higher mortgage interest rates. It would also improve US$ buying power. But we can't do that can we, since we have to devalue the dollar like crazy in order to pretend to pay off monumental debts from the last 20 years. SFH affordability is not going to improve any time soon in OC.

CDC SAYS: "Yeparoo, You must be a Teacher or Realtor? You can thank Prop 13 for keeping home prices down. "..., Too Funny. Well, I'm not a teacher, but some of my friends are teachers!! Ok, explain to me how lowering the property taxes keeps the price of a down. That makes no sense. I assure you if property tax rates increased 250% AND Prop 13 were eliminated, home values in OC would be lower, not to mention Granny might be tempted to move out of her 4 bedroom McMansion and move to a town home.
