Tesoro Needs $30 Mil for Renovations, Architect Says
Overall, it will take $822 million to modernize Capistrano Unified's 55 schools. Here's what it entails at Tesoro High School.
Opened only in 2001, a Capistrano Unified School District architect has already identified $30 million in projects to modernize Tesoro High School.
Of that, $7.6 million would go to replace half of the portable classrooms with permanent buildings. Another $253,000 – much less than other schools in the district – would go to routine maintenance and repair projects the district has put off, including paint, floor covering, paving and upgrades to the fire alarm.
The report was created in 2009 and was recently updated for 2013 pricing. The district is facing $822 million worth of needs and only has about $44 million on hand to address them.
