Arroyo Vista Needs $7.3 Mil in Repairs, Upgrades -- CUSD Architect

Overall, Capistrano Unified is looking at a construction tab of $822 million. Here is Arroyo Vista's share.

To bring Arroyo Vista K-8 up to modern-day standard would cost about $7.3 million, a Capistrano Unified architect has determined.

That money would be spent, in part, on a new gymnasium and parking lot light repairs. Arroyo Vista is one of the few schools in the Capistrano Unified School District that don’t need any new portables.

The district hired the architectural firm in 2009 to take a look at the district’s 55 campuses. The report was recently updated for 2013 pricing. The district is facing $822 million worth of needs and only has about $44 million on hand to address them.

The newly calculated numbers include $1.56 million in repair projects the district has deferred in recent years. Among them are repairing the fire alarm system, floor covering and roofing.

Also included in the new pricing is $990,000 for new technology for the students.
