Life of Donn Jones, Late Band Teacher, to Be Celebrated

The popular band instructor at Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate will have his life celebrated at the Bell Tower Regional Community Center.

Donn Jones, who brought music to the lives of thousands who passed through his classeroom at Rancho Santa Margarita Intermediate, will be remembered Saturday in a "Celebration of Life" program at the .

after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 58.

Attendees are asked to dress comfortably, with Hawaiian shirts or RSM band shirts the preferred fashion statement. Musical performances are expected by Jones' former students, the Mission Viejo High Jazz Band, and the RSM Intermediate teacher band Sweet Cream.

in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the RSM Intermediate Music Booster Club on behalf of Donn Jones.

The Lake Forest resident began teaching at RSM Intermediate in 1998 but he had taught music for 35 years.

He was diagnosed in the spring of 2010 with pancreatic cancer but taught until December, 2011.

The service to celebrate his life will begin at 11 a.m.
