Expert: Wagon Wheel Elementary Needs an $8.4 Mil Update

With an $822 million tab to repair all of Capistrano Unified's campuses, here is Wagon Wheel Elementary School's share.

To bring Wagon Wheel Elementary School up to modern standards would require $8.4 million in projects.

The Capistrano Unified School District commissioned a report in 2009, it was recently updated for 2013 pricing. The district is facing $822 million worth of needs and only has about $44 million on hand to address them.

The current figures also include $810,000 to buy upgraded technology for students.

Of the total, $4.9 million would be used to replace half of the portable classrooms with permanent structures. Another $1.2 million would cover the cost of routine maintenance and repairs the district has postponed in recent years, including the fire alarm and phone systems.

Below is an easier-to-read legend for the photo above. New construction, which originally included replacing all the portables, is in peach, remodels in yellow.
