No Gas Thursday at Santa Margarita Catholic

Loss of utility will impact lunchtime dining options.

By Ray Dunne

The Gas Company on Thursday will be conducting a campus wide gas line inspection at Santa Margarita Catholic High. To accomplish this they have to turn the gas off to most of the campus for all or part of the day.  Unfortunately they are unable to do this inspection on the weekend.

As a result of this inspection the cafeteria will not have gas for cooking,  thus lunch on Thursday will be sandwiches/wraps/salads and normal ‘cold food items’ along with hamburgers which are cooked on an electric grill.  There will not be another hot food item.  If these choices do not appeal to your son or daughter I would encourage them to bring a sack lunch.

Hot water is available throughout campus as many of our sinks have electric “instant-heat” capabilities and thus are not impacted by the shut-down.

Over the past five years SMCHS has had a great deal of construction on campus and this is a way to ensure the lines are totally secure.  There is no pending danger to the campus.

Hopefully they will begin early and end their inspection before the school day ends.
