Special Olympics Has its Day at SMCHS Aquatics Center

The Special Olympics competes at Santa Margarita Catholic, where winning takes a backseat to humanity.

For the second year in a row, the swim team at Santa Margarita Catholic High played host to Special Olympics athletes in a swim meet at the Eagles Aquatics Center.

More than 35 swimmers in the Santa Margarita swim program and about 50 Special Olympians participated in the event on Saturday.

The swimmers were from the Irvine Eagles and the RIO Aquatics swim teams, who competed in 18 events.
