Tesoro Graduates Offer a Surprise Ending

Those in the class of 2012 toss their caps in the air after their flash-mob performance. Principal calls them a special group.

Tesoro High graduated more than 500 students on Wednesay at Orange Coast College, and the Titans showed they had a bit of panache.

Near the end of the ceremony on the football field where this year's team scored its greatest victory—against Servite in the playoffs—graduates did their own victory dance.

They broke into a flash mob, shaking their gowns to parts of three different songs before unleashing their caps into the air in a synchronized wave from front to back.

The ceremony honored a number of individuals, including Valedictorian Vivek Manjunath, who was easy to spot wearing red amid a sea of blue and white gowns. He had a 4.63 grade-point average and is going to attend Dartmouth.

Additional addresses came from Ryan Pallas and Regine Goh, and Nicole Salas and Lauren Fish—senior class president and vice president—gave the command to their classmates to flip their tassels.

Principal Dan Burch called the Class of 2012, which numbered 577, a special group for their inclusiveness. Check out his comments, the flash mob, and pictures of the event in the accompanying video.
