Area Lacrosse Players Honored as All-Americans

Six area athletes were given All-American status by the Orange County Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse this week. Five-time D-1 Southern Section champion Foothill features half of players selected, the others are from south OC.

Foothill wrapped up its fifth consecutive U.S. Lacrosse Division 1 Southern Section title over a six weeks ago. The accolades are still pouring in.

Three Knights were among six area high school  athletes given All-American honors by the Orange County Chapter of U.S. lacrosse this week.

Three south Orange County players—from Tesoro, Corona del Mar and JSerra—were also selected to the team.

Each of the players recently graduated from their respective high schools following phenomenal lacrosse careers. Here's a run-down of the honorees.

The rangy defenseman was the lynchpin at the back of the Knights' championship attack. He often shadowed the opponent's top offensive weapon and usually neutralized their efforts. Cooper, who earned all-county honors as a junior and a senior, is headed to Brigham Young University.

Knute Kraus, Tesoro

The Salisbury University signee torched South Coast League competition all season, compiling 82 groundballs and playing stout defense in the Titans’ backfield. Kraus supplied senior leadership during Tesoro’s playoff run.

Erik Adamson, Foothill

It’s hard to argue against Adamson’s All-American nod. There may not have been a player in Orange County more dangerous with the ball than the Knights’ senior attacker. Adamson tallied 76 goals in 22 games and proved to be a potent distributor with a precise passing game.

Donald Dalton, Corona del Mar

The Sea Kings’ senior defenseman earned Pacific Coast League MVP honors this spring. Dalton became Corona del Mar’s third U.S. Lacrosse All-American by leading the team to an undefeated PCL title run. He will attend Drexel University.

Joey Kimpler, JSerra

The senior midfielder was named Offensive MVP in the talent-laden Trinity League. Kimpler earned All-League honors in both football and lacrosse this year, earning the opportunity to play collegiate lacrosse at University of Maryland next season.  He scored 35 goals for the Lions this spring.

Cameron Cole, Foothill

Cole combined with Adamson to form the area’s most feared offensive attack at Foothill. The Cal State Fullerton commit scored 42 goals, while dishing out 36 assists for the D-1 champions. Cole entered the spring surrounded by hype and expectations. He lived up to them throughout the season and took his game to another level during the playoffs, accounting for five goals and five assists in the Knights’ title game victory over Manhattan Beach Mira Costa.
