Rankings: CIF-SS Polls for Week of Jan. 9
South Coast League dominates the 1A rankings in boys' basketball with three teams in the top 5. El Toro has both boys' and girls' teams ranked in the top 5.
Capistrano Valley, Mission Viejo and El Toro make up three of the top five teams in the most recent Southern Section Division 1A boys' basketball rankings that were released this week. Also, Aliso Niguel is ranked No. 1 in girls' soccer in Division 1.
Here are the highlights for Patch-area teams (check out the PDF files for the complete rankings):
Boys' basketball: Capo Valley and Mission are 2-3 behind Orange Lutheran, and El Toro is No. 5. Santa Margarita is ranked No. 3 and Corona del Mar shares No. 5 in Division 3AA.

Girls' basketball: El Toro is ranked No. 2, behind Fontana Summit, in Division 1A. Laguna Hills is No. 4 in Division 3AA, and St. Margaret's is No. 5 in 5AA.
Girls' water polo: Corona del Mar, Newport Harbor and Laguna Beach are 3-4-5 in Division 1. San Clemente and El Toro are 5-6 in Division 2. Dana Hills is No. 3 in Division 4.

Girls' soccer: Aliso Niguel, Corona del Mar and San Clemente are ranked 1-2-3 in Division 1. St. Margaret's is No. 3 in Division 6.
Wrestling: Laguna Hills is No. 3 in Division 1.
