Boys Basketball: Santa Margarita 65, Palos Verdes 48

Balanced scoring gives the home team its second victory over the Sea Kings.

Four players scored in double figures as Santa Margarita Catholic rebounded from a heartbreaking loss a night earlier to beat Palos Verdes, 65-48, in a nonleague game Saturday.

On the comfort of their home floor, Brett Oosdyke and Colin Ferrier scored 12 apiece, and Sjur Berg and Joe Furstinger scored 10 each for Santa Margarita (13-5), which had lost at JSerra in a Trinity League contest Friday, 57-54.

There was much less drama against Palos Verdes as the Eagles took a 15-7 lead in the first quarter and a 53-32 lead into the fourth.

It's the second time this season Santa Margarita has beaten Palos Verdes (9-8); the Eagles scored an almost identical 67-45 victory in the Santa Margarita Christmas Classic.

Santa Margarita's next game will be Friday at home against St. John Bosco, completing the first of two rounds of Trinity League play.
