Family Campout: Wild Edibles and Fire

Silverado Canyon
Saturday and Sunday will include identifying and eating wild edibles & medicinals, fire making tools, exploring the land and practicing survival skills. Saturday evening will include storytelling for the little ones (and young at heart). Teens & adventurous parents will explore their nocturnal senses on a night hike without flashlights, guided by Earthroots Instructors.

This event is limited to 50 people (including children).
Cost per family to camp $125-$175 (sliding scale)
OR Attend just for the day (Saturday 11:00am-nightfall) IF SPACE IS AVAILABLE, and not camp, $80-$100 (sliding scale) per family.

There are no additional parking/access fees (as there would be at Casper's or other OC Parks).

Each family brings:
- their own camping gear
- warm clothing in layers
- flashlights, chairs
- snacks/lunch for Saturday & Sunday
- dinner
- serving utensils and plates/bowls for the family
** There is no trash service at Big Oak Canyon, so please bring non-disposable dish ware and be prepared to pack out your trash & recycling.
Earthroots will provide:
- instruction by highly qualified, first aid certified Earthroots instructors
- access to beautiful oak dotted private wilderness
- materials for all activities
- simple whole grain breakfast with hot tea Sunday morning
- stoves
- water
- firewood
- dish washing station for your cups, plates & utensils
- freedom from your cell phone!
