Football: Adam, Tesoro Beat Burroughs Like a Burro

Six players score as Tesoro wins its final nonleague game before taking on the South Coast League.

After getting beaten badly a week ago, Tesoro needed a shot of the real Matt Adam.

One of the highly regarded quarterbacks in Orange County coming into the season, Adam passed for 146 yards and three touchdown passes and ran for another as Tesoro scored a 49-7 nonleague victory Saturday over Ridgecrest Burroughs.

The victory gives Tesoro (4-2) a bit of momentum as it prepares for its South Coast League opener in two weeks against Trabuco Hills (5-1). The Titans have a bye next week because there are only five teams in the league. Trabuco opens league play next week against San Clemente (6-0).

Burroughs is from the Desert Sky League in the Eastern Division; the Burros (2-4) lost for the third game in a row.

The victory for Tesoro came at the right time following the Titans' loss last week to previously winless Temecula Chaparral, 24-6.

Adam led Tesoro to a 48-0 lead in the second quarter with touchdown passes of 22 yards to Syd Reynolds and Michael McQueen, and eight yards to Forrest Dunivin, and a 26-yard scoring run.

Nate Tago, who led Tesoro's 332-yard rushing attack with 108 yards, scored once and Blake Rodgers scored twice.
