Football: OC Top 10 and Patch's Vote After Week 5

The city of Rancho Santa Margarita feeds the teams ranked 1-2-3.

Martin Henderson of Patch.com votes in the weekly Orange County Top 10 Football Poll in cooperation with the Orange County Register.

Below is Henderson's vote following the third weekend of prep football, and below that is this week's OC Top 10 based on the votes of 10 media members; each first-place vote among the 10 voters is worth 10 points, each second-place vote is worth 9 points, etc

1. Santa Margarita (5-0, 100 points)

Eagles had their bye week last week, giving them more time to work in who will play quarterback now that Johnny Stanton is out for the rest of the season because of a knee injury. Next: vs. Servite at Saddleback College, Friday. 

2. Mission Viejo (6-0, 78)

Diablos, who have a bye this week, hit their points per game average of 52 in their 53-21 home triumph against Redlands East Valley. Next: at San Clemente, Oct. 12. 

3. Tesoro (5-0, 69)

Successful so far, Titans had a bye week to get ready for South Coast League challenges. Next: at Trabuco Hills, Friday.

4. Mater Dei (4-1, 68)

Monarchs lost to Narbonne of Harbor City, the No. 4 team in the state rankings, by one point on the road. Next: vs. JSerra at Santa Ana Stadium, Friday.

5. Edison (4-1, 54)

Chargers cruised to a 31-3 victory at San Clemente and continue to look like a Southwest Division favorite. Next: vs. Newport Harbor at Huntington Beach High, Thursday.

6. El Toro (6-0, 43)

That slacker Conner Manning threw for “only” 306 yards and three touchdowns in 49-6 victory over Garden Grove. Next: vs. San Clemente at Trabuco Hills, Thursday. 

7. Orange Lutheran (5-0, 34)

Lancers had a bye last week, fastened seat belts for the Trinity League half of the regular season. Next: vs. Bellflower St. John Bosco at Orange Coast College, Friday. 

8. Tustin (6-0, 29)

Valencia challenged the Tillers, but big-play defense and steady running game led to 49-21 league victory. Next: vs. Pacifica at Tustin, Friday.

9. Servite (2-3, 17)

Servite's offense rises from “The Pit” in a 38-6 victory at St. Paul. Next: vs. Santa Margarita at Saddleback College, Friday.

10. Foothill (5-1, 12)

Knights went punt-less in 42-14 league victory over El Modena. Next: vs. Villa Park at El Modena High, Friday.

I'm still waiting for the teachers to produce a receipt for purchases made with MY money.Read More Asking/requiring donations of $20-25.00 a head in a 32 kid classroom is a nice $800.00 potential windfall of which I see nothing of where that $$ is spent.
