The Eagles score another easy win over Carson as K.J. Costello turns in an efficient performance.

Santa Margarita Catholic won its second in a row with a dominating performance against one of the L.A. City Section’s most storied programs. The Eagles played in Carson, and delivered a workmanlike victory. 

Score: Santa Margarita Catholic 49, Carson 6

Key Stats: Sophomore K.J. Costello completed nine of 11 passes for 104 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions; he had thrown nine interceptions going into the game. The TDs were to Rick Ellison for 41 yards, and Kyle Sweet for 23.

Pivotal Moment: Having lost a year ago, 72-0, Carson couldn’t afford to get behind early. But trailing by a touchdown early, a botched punt was recovered by the Eagles. Jeremy McNichols eventually scored from 9 yards and Santa Margarita was rolling, 14-0 and wouldn’t look back.
