Tesoro got the easiest opponent in the first round of the Southern Section Pac-5 playoffs, but the Titans had to pay the price in the second round. 

Top-seeded Bellflower St. John Bosco erupted for 35 points in the first quarter and cruised into the semifinals against Mission Hills Alemany, a 21-19 winner over Servite.

Key Stats: On its first 10 offensive plays, St. John Bosco scored five touchdowns. The Braves led in the first quarter, 35-0.

Pivotal Moment: Tesoro gave up the big play early to fall behind by a touchdown, but when they gave up three more touchdowns in a three-minute span to fall behind by 28, it was game over.

Quotable: “I think we were shell-shocked a little bit from the get-go,” Tesoro coach Matt Poston told the Orange County Register. “We didn’t play up to our capabilities. Not to take anything away from them, because I think that’s the best team, at least in the state, maybe the country, who knows. That’s like playing an all-star team.”
