Football: Tesoro 56, Ontario Colony 7

Nate Tago and Matt Adam lead the Titans to a decisive victory, but it gets tougher from here on out.

A couple of weeks ago in a game against Newhall Hart, Tesoro got back on point. The Titans played the second half with a ground-and-pound attitude.

Thinking run first, pass second, it pulled out a 10-7 victory over the second-ranked team in the Southern Section Northern Division.

Since then, the Titans have run over opponents.

Tesoro scored a 56-7 nonleague victory Friday against Ontario Colony.

Coming on the heels of a nice 24-14 victory over Chino Hills, the Titans relied on their offensive line and a ground game paced by Nate Tago.

And as Tago goes, so go the Titans, who are No. 3 in the .

Tago scored two touchdowns while rushing for 141 yards in the first half as Tesoro opened up a 35-0 lead. He scored on Tesoro's first offensive play, from seven yards, after the snap went over the Colony punter's head.

Tago also scored on a 71-yard run in the second quarter.

With the running game softening the Colony defense, Matt Adam passed for 104 yards in the first half and three touchdowns. He also rushed three times for 47 yards, including a one-yard score. He completed eight of 15 passes.

Tesoro (4-0) will face a tough opponent next week in a home game. The Titans take on Temecula Chaparral (3-0), which is ranked No. 8 in the Inland Division. After that game, the Titans begin South Coast League play.

Tesoro is ranked No. 4 in the Pac-5 division behind Santa Margarita, Westlake Village Oaks Christian, and Westlake.
