Following Santa Margarita Catholic's 27-21 overtime loss to Ventura St. Bonaventure, key personnel put things into perspective.
St. Bonaventure, the top-seeded team in the Southern Section Pac-5 playoffs, avenged its only defeat of the season with a 27-21 second-round overtime victory over Santa Margarita.
The Seraphs (11-1) got four touchdowns from Zack Green, but nearly frittered away a 21-7 lead in the final minutes with some questionable play-calling (passing on first down?) with a chance to run out the clock.
Santa Margarita finished the season 9-3; the Eagles were 4-3 after losing starting quarterback Johnny Stanton for the season to a knee injury after the fifth game. At the time, SMCHS was ranked No. 1 in the nation.
