Football: Welch Named Coach of the Week by ABC
Selection of the second-year coach at Santa Margarita Catholic means a $1,000 donation to the football program.
Harry Welch has been selected the football coach of the week by the ABC Sports affiliate in Los Angeles.
Welch is the second-year coach of Santa Margarita Catholic (8-1, 3-1), which is playing for the Trinity League title tonight against Servite (8-1, 4-0) at Cerritos College.
A segment, filmed Wednesday of this week, will be aired on ABC Sports Zone on Saturday and can also be seen on the website. The football program will receive a $1,000 grant from the NFL Youth Football Foundation.

In two seasons under Welch, the Eagles are 17-4; they were 3-7 in the year before his arrival. They have assured themselves of at least a second consecutive second-place finish in the Trinity League, but can share first place and enter the playoffs as the No. 1 entry from the league with a win over Servite.
