Coach Banned for Life Over Teen Sex Charges

A former Mission Viejo Nadadores swim coach was barred from the sport over allegations he seduced a 15-year-old athlete.

USA Swimming banned a former Mission Viejo Nadadores swim coach from the sport on Thursday after finding he violated their rules involving sexual conduct.

Daniel Ad'm Dusenbury admitted to USA Swimming that he carried on a four-year sexual relationship with a girl starting in 2006, when she was 15 and he was 28, according to the Orange County Register. He was a Nadadores coach at the time, and the girl was his student on the Nadadores team while attending Aliso Niguel High.

Dusenbury is the latest swim coach from South County to be accused of inappropriate sexual advances toward minor students.

In 2011, USA Swimming banned coach Todd Sousa when he was charged with having sex with a 15-year-old student.

Last year, the Saddleback Valley Unified School District was sued for allegedly firing two water polo coaches in retaliation for sexual harassment claims they made against a third coach. That coach allegedly touched teen students' breasts while demonstrating illegal hand-check moves.

Dusenbury was found to be in violation of five USA Swimming rules of conduct.

USA Swimming is the national governing body of the sport of swimming.

The Orange County Superior Court website shows no charges against Dusenbury.
