Lady Eagles Hitting Their Stride on Golf Courses

Santa Margarita's girls golfers beat Salpoint Catholic of Tucson, Ariz., by shooting school-record rounds at Dove Canyon and Coto de Caza South this week.

Santa Margarita Catholic High's girls golf team set two school records this week, shooting team scores of 200 at Dove Canyon and 201 at Coto de Caza South.

The previous team course record for Dove Canyon was 204, set last year with all-county players Amy Alston and Kelsey Hummer. The previous team course record for Coto was set by the undefeated 2007 team, whose lineup included all-county players Tarah Taylor, Alex Bush, Alston and Hummer, who are all playing in college.

"Our players all put forth all around great team effort with outstanding scores across the board," Santa Margarita coach Amy Connelly said. "They have really been working hard as a team and motivating each other to do their very best."

Scores from Wednesday's match at Dove Canyon:

Santa Margarita 200, Salpoint Catholic of Tucson, Ariz., 226

Kelly Dapper -- 36. She was the medalist with an even-par round on the front nine. She had three birdies and four pars. All three of her birdies came within the first four holes.

Corrie Milster -- 38. She had one birdie and five pars and was on seven fairways in regulation.

Sydney Steele -- 40. She had six pars.

Nicole Yson --  43. She had four pars and was on seven fairways in regulation.

Annalise Castner -- 43. She birdied No. 1 and added three pars.

Scores from Thursday's match at Coto de Caza South:

Santa Margarita 201, Salpoint Catholic of Tucson, Ariz., 215

Sydney Steele -- 37. She was the medalist with a one-over par round on the front nine. She had one birdie and six pars.

Kelly Dapper -- 38. She had one birdie, five pars and was on seven fairways in regulation.

Corrie Milster -- 41. She had five pars.

Annalise Castner -- 42. She had five pars.

Kristen Gallogly -- 43.

Alisa Mackesy -- 44.

Nicole Yson -- 45.

Note: in our 5 matches so far this season, we have had three different players medal and 4 different players shoot in the 30's.
