Local Teen Makes Cut at PGA Tour Event

Amateur golfer Beau Hossler is still in the running after half the field is eliminated midway through the AT&T National.

Beau Hossler, still a couple months from entering his senior year at Santa Margarita Catholic High, took another step toward professional growth when he made the cut Friday at the AT&T National.

On the same Congressional Country Club course in which in the United States Open Campionship, Hossler responded with rounds of 71 and 74 over the first two days of the tournament on the par 71 layout. he shot 76-77 in the first two rounds and missed the cut.

Hossler, 17, a resident of Mission Viejo, enters the third round tied for 37th place with at 3-over par, 10 strokes behind the leader, Hunter Mahan, on the course outside Washington D.C.

He is playing at the tournament, his first PGA Tour event, with a sponsor's exemption provided by Tiger Woods.

A couple of weeks ago at The Olympic Club, led the field briefly after dropping to 2-under in the second round, and was in the top 10 heading into the fourth round. He finished tied for 29th, 9-over for the tournament after going 6-over in the final round.
