Los Alamitos' Girls, Foothill's Boys Top Latest O.C. Lacrosse Polls

Despite winning the inaugural Orange County Invitational girls lacrosse tournament on Saturday, Beckman remained ranked behind Los Alamitos but did move from third to second in the  coaches' CIF poll announced Thursday by the Orange County Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse.

In winning the title on Saturday, Beckman did not face Los Alamitos. Against common opponent Monte Vista of Danville, the top-ranked team in the state at the time, the Patriots won, 14-13, in the semifinals, then Los Alamitos won, 19-11, in the third-place game. But against Coronado of San Diego, Beckman scored a 15-9 victory in the title game, while the Griffins suffered a 13-11 loss. 

In the boys poll, Foothill remained at No. 1 and El Toro at No. 2. The teams meet Monday at El Toro in a nonleague match that begins at 3:30 p.m. St. Margaret's moved from fifth to third and Santa Margarita fell from fourth to seventh after the Tartans beat the Eagles, 8-4, in their Trinity League opener.
