Reader Submission: 15th Annual ASICS Eagle Invite Lights Up State Leader Boards

On a day that felt more like the middle of August, hundreds of athletes from all over the Southern California area gathered at Santa Margarita High School for the 15th Annual ASICS Eagle Invite with the hopes of starting their season off on the right foot. With the temperatures warm and little to no breeze early on, you could say that the conditions were more than optimal for what every coach and athlete hopes for in their first competition of the early season. Suffice it to say, the competition struck while the proverbial iron was hot and made their marks known for all of California to take witness. 
 
The states first Top 10 Performance List was published yesterday courtesy of EPI Sports and Dyeystatcal.com with the ASICS Eagle Invite splashed all over the charts. 25 top 10 marks were established at the ASICS Eagle Invite, making it clear where the state's best competition was held on the opening week of the 2011 CIF track and field season. From the very first race to the very last race of the day, California top marks were happening all around us whether anybody knew it or not. At the end of a very punctual invitational, five state leading marks were generated as well as four other top-three marks.
