SMCHS Girls Basketball Coach Leaves to Take Position at Concordia

Effective immediately, Matt Houser has stepped down from his role as the girls’ varsity basketball coach to pursue a collegiate coaching position. 

Houser was a coach at SMCHS for the past five seasons, including two CIF championships, will be pursuing an assistant coaching position at Concordia University. 

“Today I will be resigning as head coach for Santa Margarita Catholic High School girls’ basketball. I have been offered a coaching job at Concordia University. This is a great time in my life to keep working to reach my goal to be a head Division 1 college coach” Houser said.

“I want to thank you all for all the great times while I have been coaching here at SMCHS, thank you so much for everything and I wish the program the best of luck.”

The school’s athletic department and administration will begin their search for a Houser’s replacement as head girls’ varsity basketball coach right away.
